I don't know about you - but sometimes I just don't want a whole tray of brownies. Sometimes I want a warm and comforting dessert - and sometimes...... I just need a chocolate fix.
That's where this recipe steps in.
What would you say if I told you that you could make a brownie that's gluten free, grain free, refined sugar free, low fat, vegan and delicious. You'd say I was lying, huh? I wouldn't lie to you! Think again.
This gooey, fudgy, delicious single serve brownie has no added fat and can be made in minutes in the microwave - or thrown into the oven whilst you're eating dinner or doing something else.
And you know what? It's even better when you top it with a spoonful of icecream. (Balance my friends, balance).
gluten free, vegan, low fat, grain free, sugar free
3 tbsp Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
1/4 cup Unsweetened Applesauce
1/4 tsp Baking Powder
Pinch of Salt
1 tsp Vanilla
1 tsp-1 tbsp Maple Syrup*
In the microwave: Cook for 1 minute and then cook for 30 second intervals or until your brownie is cooked.
In the oven: Cook for 20-30 minutes at 180°C/350°F or until the brownie has cooked and the edges are pulling in from the sides.
Serve warm or allow to cool.

*Depending on how sweet you like things - I like dark chocolate so I use a single teaspoon whilst my family like things sweeter, so I use more. Alternatively you could use honey or a sweetener of your choice.
And I have lost every train of thought I ever had as, whilst writing this post, my wedding dress arrived!! :D!
But tell me, what's your favourite dessert?

This looks delicious! I love brownies and I always hate to bake a whole batch (it'd be too much). Great recipe and I love how it's fat free. Also, congrats on the arrival of your wedding dress. =)
ReplyDeleteThanks Helen! :)
DeleteDefinitely give this one a try - it's delicious!
Yum! This looks fantastic. It's always nice when it's super easy, too :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Sunnie! Most definitely, it's a fuss free dessert!
Deleteoh my this looks awesome! I'm excited to make this!
ReplyDeleteIt's so good! My family were sceptical at first - since it's basically just applesauce and cocoa - but it is so good!
DeleteHave been craving brownies... Must try this! :-)
ReplyDeleteI'd love to know what you think when you try it! :)
DeleteYum! I just tried this and I think I'll try a little less cocoa powder next time and more maple syrup but this is a great snack! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteHey Sara, thanks for taking the time to leave a comment!
DeleteDefinitely play around with the recipe to find what works best for you. I love dark chocolate so the rich chocolatey flavour is perfect for me - but I add extra sweetener for Jesse.
